A few point...Thanks so much for this information!

A few points. The library doors require a student card to get in the door - there is a buzzer near the door with an intercom. The main desk is to the right where you can ask for the films.

The microfilm reader is, thankfully, a new computer model. If you've never worked with a microfilm reader before, you may want to get familiar with one at a local library or family history center before going in order not to waste time there.

It's easier to search with the camera zoomed out to maximum so you can catch the entire page at once. If you find the listing you need, or have trouble reading small print you can zoom it back in.

In the years I was searching (1947/1948) The County Court New Suits listings were not always between Superior and Probate. They were often there, but for formatting or other reasons they could be anywhere in the first 4-5 pages, especially on weekends or holidays. If you don't see them where you expect them, go back to page 1.Mike Allensonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17745823133981602428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10890559.post-28105176755942632462018-08-18T18:45:48.159-07:002018-08-18T18:45:48.159-07:00Colleen- I just received my fathers records. The only information I have is that he was born Alfred Sprigg Robinson in Chicago Laying In Hospital, December 1, 1925 to Alfred Robinson and Mary Ellen Chesley Robinson and I don't even know if that is totally accurate since my grandmother was 19 when dad was born and there is no record of her marriage either. My sister just called to ask how she could get a copy of her birth certificate. She mentioned she was born in Chicago Lying In Hospital, and was I (44), (she in 52) I had never met anyone who even heard of the hospital let alone actually being born there. The thing to know is clicking on the icon that you see in an index may take you to the Cook County Clerk's website where you can purchase the record but in many cases you don't need to because you can access the certificate on FamilySearch by going in through the catalog. Oh, and if I take my laptop to my local FHC, I can access the FHC/affiliate library images from it as long as I'm logged into the wireless.
